Seton Hall removes Mitchell from basketball team

South Orange, NJ (Sports Network) - Seton Hall announced it has removed junior forward Robert Mitchell from the basketball team for unspecified reasons.

Mitchell, a transfer from Duquesne, started in 15 of the 31 games this season and averaged 8.4 points and 3.8 rebounds a game.

The Pirates accepted a bid to play in the NIT with a first-round home game against Texas Tech on tap for Tuesday.

"I am very appreciative of Robert's contributions to our program these last two years," Seton Hall coach Bobby Gonzalez said. "We have accomplished much during his time here and I truly wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."
